This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore all convictions, cautions, written warnings, bind overs, including those regarded as ‘spent’ must be declared.
If you or any member of your household has answered ‘YES’ to any of the questions above, please supply further details along with the relevant dates on a separate form marked Private and Confidential for the attention of the Director of Safeguarding & Operations, Bright World Guardianships, Forge House, 105 High Street, Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, BN6 9PU.
Section 70a of the Children Act 1989 states that a person who gives information which he/she knows to be false/misleading or makes a statement in this notice will be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine.
Please note: having a criminal record may not necessarily stop you from working with our company; this will depend upon the nature of the offence.
All full-time residents must be made aware that if their circumstances change and they would later answer “Yes” to any of the questions above, Bright World Guardianships must be notified immediately.
By law, all families hosting a student under the age of 16 years for more than 28 consecutive days will be classed as private fosterers. This procedure would involve further checks by a social worker.
Applicants will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check using original certificates and forms of identification,
which applies to anyone aged over 16 years of age living in the house.
In processing your application and as part of our Safer Recruitment policy we will need to share your information with a third party agency called
uCheck (www.ucheck.co.uk) who we use to undertake DBS checks as an essential part of our screening process.
The information uCheck gather will be handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation 2016.

Once we have received each person’s clear, enhanced DBS certificate, we will automatically register you with an online Update Service. We will re-register and check each person’s DBS status annually on the renewal date for every year that you remain a host family for Bright World.
Applicants will be required to submit details of people who they have known for a minimum of two years and can be contacted by Bright World Head Office to provide reference details.

Applicants should be aware that Bright World Guardianships is accredited by AEGIS and as part of the accreditation or inspection process of AEGIS or any other statutory body, applicants must be prepared to co-operate with an inspection, involving a meeting with the host family applicant and access to their accommodation at a pre-arranged time, if necessary [tick box]
We confirm that we have valid, up-to-date and fully comprehensive car insurance for any cars that we, as a host family, would be using to transport Bright World Guardianships’ students and have informed our insurer (or will inform our insurer prior to hosting) that we transport students, for which we are paid expenses.
We confirm that we have adequate home insurance and have declared all relevant facts to our insurers (or will declare all relevant facts to our insurers prior to hosting) regarding hosting international students in our homes, in order to obtain the right cover and premiums.
